Energy and maintenance savings in Vodafone Building, Lisbon
After careful studies, the energy-efficient LED T8 retrofit tube Aura EasyT8 Long Life turned out to be the right solution for the parking garage in the Vodafone Building in Lisbon, Portugal. The Vodafone Building in Lisbon is situated in the modern district of Parque das Nações and is designed by architects Alexandre Burmester and José Carlos Gonçalves. Built in 2002, it has become a characteristic of the Lisbon cityscape and is recognized by its architectural impact. Both for size and design, but also technological challenges and solutions. It has been awarded several prizes including the Valmor Prize.
24/7 energy efficiency
This imposing building is made up of different spaces such as offices, shops, auditorium and restaurant and is open long hours, which means high operating costs. The underground parking area operates 24 hours, seven days a week and is a source of large energy costs. That is why the company decided to renew the existing lighting system in this part of the building.
In order to achieve this, tests were conducted with different solutions from various suppliers based on the existing waterproof luminaires equipped with electronic ballasts and fluorescent T8 tubes.
A simple solution with guaranteed quality
Aura Light was asked to present an energy-efficienct, high performance solution for this project. Aura EasyT8 Long Life, an innovative retrofit LED T8 light source, turned out to be the ideal solution. It is designed to save energy in existing luminaires by replacing T8 fluorescent lamps.
Energy and maintenance savings
In accordance with the energy-efficiency strategy that Vodafone Portugal has implemented over the past years, a technical study of the parking floors was conducted in order to identify lighting solutions with high energy efficiency. The study resulted in the installation of LED tubes by Aura Light, which are more sustainable, both environmentally and economically. Thanks to their long life time and high energy-efficiency it is possible to cut energy consumption as well as maintenance costs.
These factors combined with the product’s high quality of light and the rotatable caps, which enable photometric adjustment after the installation, ensures the best results and optimal payback.
